U.S. News & World Report Ranks SI Highly
In its ranking of graduate programs in library science,
U.S. News & World Report → magazine rated the School of Information in a tie for third place with Syracuse University and the University of Pittsburgh. The University of Illinois and the University of North Carolina tied for first.
Ratings were based solely on a reputational survey of faculty and academic administrators. SI is perceived among peer institutions as being the international leader in moving to the next generation of library science and a broad array of new professional specializations for the digital information age.
The top 10 universities in the magazine survey (and their scores) were:
- 1. University of Illinois, 4.4
- University of North Carolina, 4.4
- 3. Syracuse University, 4.0
- University of Michigan, 4.0
- University of Pittsburgh, 4.0
- 6. Indiana University, 3.9
- Rutgers University, 3.9
- 8. University of Wisconsin, 3.8
- 9. Drexel University, 3.7
- 10. University of Texas, 3.6
- University of California - Los Angeles, 3.6
