Staff members

Meet the staff members of the Office of Student Affairs.

  • Marsha Antal - School Registrar

    Coordinates curriculum and class scheduling, student records, student registration, and Office of Student Affairs operations.  Oversees and implements academic policies and procedures.

  • Matthew Dupree - Student Affairs Program Assistant

    Provides support for MSI and Ph.D events and programs, assists with supporting and advising SI student groups, and responds to questions related to SI and campus policies. Also advises prospective SI students.

  • Laura Elgas - Associate Director, Admissions and Student Affairs

    Oversees academic and financial aid advising, recruitment and admissions, student records, student life, and communications. Provides counseling to prospective and current students. Coordinates research and emergency funding.

  • Veronica Falandino - Student Affairs Program Manager

    Manages recruitment, admissions advising, student life, as well as programs and events for prospective, incoming, and current students.  Serves as the staff advisor to all MSI student groups.  Coordinates travel grant funding for MSI students.

     

     

  • Meghan Genovese - Health Informatics Program Manager

    Manages the graduate program in Health Informatics, a joint program of the School of Information and the School of Public Health. Oversees recruitment, admissions, academic services, career services, and communications for the program. Provides admissions, financial aid, and academic advising.

  • Kelly Kowatch - Assistant Director, Career Development

    Provides career counseling and internship search advising to first-year SI students.   Also manages the Alternative Spring Break program and international internship activities, and oversees the development and monitoring of credit-based internships for PEP.

  • Joanna Kroll - Senior Associate Director, Career Development

    Oversees all career development activities for the school.  Provides career counseling and job search advising to second-year students.  Manages employer relations and development, on-campus recruiting activities and the Practical Engagement Program (PEP).

    • Judy Lawson - Director, Admissions and Student Affairs

      Provides leadership for the SI Office of Student Affairs, including recruiting, admissions, and the functions of academic and career services.  Serves on the SI Senior Management Team. Provides academic and career counseling to students. Offers career counseling and job search assistance to SI alumni.

    • Shamille Orr - Career Development Coordinator

      Provides administrative support for the Career Development Office, including the Practical Engagement Program. Coordinates career programming such as on-campus recruiting, mock interviews, Alternative Spring Break. Acts as system administrator for iTrack. Provides part-time job search advising to incoming and current students, as well as resume reviews.

    • Katy Ross - Academic and Career Advisor

      Provides career counseling and internship advising to first-year MSI students. Advises MSI students regarding the Practical Engagement Program and serves as program coordinator for the SI Alternative Spring Break program. Provides academic advising to undergraduate Informatics students enrolled in or considering the social computing track.
       

    • M. Suzanne Schuon - Assistant Director, Doctoral Program

      Manages the SI doctoral program, and provides information and referral for doctoral students.  Handles the doctoral student annual review process, oversees doctoral recruiting and tracking, and serves as liaison to the Doctoral Committee and liaison to Rackham for doctoral students.

    • Xiao-wen Zou - Senior Academic and Financial Aid Advisor

      Provides academic and financial aid advising for incoming and current students, as well as providing consultation and referral for students in crisis or needing special support.  Also serves as point person for students with disabilities or with significant health issues.

    • Heather Carpenter - Student Services Assistant

      Serves as the first point of contact for general questions and concerns related to admissions and student services.  Assists with add/drop, overrides, registration, curriculum, appointment scheduling, admissions processing, international admissions, student travel reimbursement, and event planning.
