SI SpotlightBen Bunnell (MSI '98)
"At SI, you're being prepared for you know not what. The idea is not to learn specific skills, but to learn how to learn."
|
Before SI: Majored in English at Virginia Commonwealth University.
At SI: Worked for the Internet Public Library and was a digital information associate, developing Web-based slide presentations for Professor Michael Cohen.
After SI: Started out as a research librarian for Avalon Investments, a venture-capital firm, which allowed him to combine the education he earned pursuing his MSI and an MBA from the U-M Ross School of Business. Now is a library partnerships manager at Google Book Search (formerly Google Print). One of his recent projects was working with the University of Michigan Library on a massive digitization project that will result in more than seven million volumes being scanned. In fall 2005, Ben helped launch Google's Librarian Outreach
program with a newsletter that now reaches more than 20,000 readers.
