About Frank Boles:
Author and Archivist, Frank Boles, is the Director of the Clarke Historical Library, Boles was previously an instructor in the University of Michigan School of Information and staff member of the University Archives and Records Program within the Bentley Historical Library.
Described as one of the archival profession’s most provocative thinkers and most resolute pragmatists, Boles is the author of several articles and books on appraisal. His latest contribution to the field is Selecting and Appraising Archives and Manuscripts (Society of American Archivists, 2005). The book is praised for its accessibility and humor: “Boles’ special achievement is to make complex subject accessible: a large literature is covered with dexterity and humor, and its pertinence to the archival profession is clearly identified.”
