U-M and Ann Arbor

Finding something to do in Ann Arbor is never a problem. The city has virtually every kind of entertainment imaginable at one time or another, from dozens of museums and art galleries, to live theater, dance, and music for all tastes.

In the summer, the nationally famous art fairs (actually three simultaneous fairs) bring more than 500,000 visitors to the city for the four-day event.

The city ranks positively by virtually any measure. Magazines as diverse as Money, Ladies Home Journal, Reader's Digest, and Entrepreneur have ranked Ann Arbor as one of the top cities in America. Bicycling magazine rated Ann Arbor one of the 20-best cities in the United States, naming it one of its BikeTown 2005 cities.

If you enjoy creating or discovering your own special places, the city has more than 130 parks (consisting of more than 1,900 acres). Additional regional and state parks are nearby for recreation and camping. Don't miss the University's own Arboretum, a natural area close to Central Campus for hiking, sitting by the side of the Huron River, or just viewing nature at its best.

Ann Arbor features opportunities for canoeing, cross-country skiing, cycling, golfing, jogging, swimming, tennis, and ice skating, too. You also may participate in organized sports such as soccer, basketball, and softball through Ann Arbor's city leagues and the University's intramural sports programs.
