Quoted by The Newsworthy. Professor Kentaro Toyama. AI chatbots may change everything.

Artificial intelligence chatbots are rapidly changing how we access and disseminate information. But what impact are they having on work, learning and society?

In an episode of the podcast The Newsworthy, University of Michigan School of Information professor Kentaro Toyama talks about the need for regulation, the danger of AI and why we need to slow the technology down.

“A technology like AI, which can effectively not just mimic human beings but possibly outdo them in a variety of ways, is going to have an immense impact that I think is very hard to predict,” Toyama says. “With rapid advances in AI, it also means that we need to slow down so that we can understand how best to regulate the technology so we get the maximum benefit and minimize the harm.”
