Destress Zone: Drop-in with OCC Grad Staff
Destress Zone is a casual, recurring drop-in event where USMI students can unwind and spend time with peers with no appointment or planned agenda. We provide pastries, snacks and optional mindfulness activities (like grown-up coloring pages) in a relaxed environment for sharing ideas and discussing the community and culture of UMSI.
Feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. OCC graduate student staff Katherine Parker-Hay, who works on a committee of UMSI staff, faculty and students to improve equity and culture in the School, is happy to listen or chat about anything that is on your mind.
Unsure why you might want to come to this event? Here are a few examples:
- To take a break from everything and enjoy food with other UMSI students
- To discuss concerns you have about the school’s climate and community
- To get advice from peers about U-M resources or issues impacting your life as a student (e.g., How do I schedule an appointment at CAPS? What if I want to change pathways?)
- To share ideas for an event or program focused on cross-cultural perspectives
