How do I apply to the Bachelor of Science in Information?

I’m a high school student → Preferred admission

When you apply to the University of Michigan, you can indicate your interest in later joining the School of Information by selecting “preferred admission” on the Common Application.

I’m a current U-M student → Cross-campus transfer

You can apply to the Bachelor of Science in Information program as early as your first semester, to start as a sophomore or above. The process is similar to declaring a major — we accept applications on a rolling basis (from September to March 1). 

I’m transferring from another institution → New transfer

If you’re a student at another four-year institution or a community college, the School of Information would love to be your next home. You can apply as a “new transfer” at any point, as long as you have 24 transferable credits completed by the time you enroll. The application deadline is Feb. 15.
