Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence
This minor equips students from any academic background with the expertise to effectively leverage AI tools. You will gain the ability to apply AI to a range of professional domains and make strategic, responsible decisions about its use — the exact skills employers are looking for.
Students enrolled in this minor will learn to:
- leverage AI to design innovative solutions and explore new possibilities.
- critically engage with the risks and ethical trade-offs of AI before integrating it into professional practice.
- effectively communicate AI-related concepts and outcomes to audiences relevant to your discipline.
Requirements to declare a UMSI minor
In order to declare one of the UMSI minors, undergraduate students in eligible programs must meet the following criteria:
- Junior status at the time of minor declaration
- Have a currently declared major*
- Be in good academic standing
*Students enrolled in UMSI’s Bachelor of Science in Information program are eligible to declare the minor in Human-Centered AI, but are not eligible to declare the minor in Social Media Analysis and Design or User Experience Design.
