Carter and Doshi honored with UMSI alumni awards

In October, the School of Information honored two individuals who have made notable contributions to the information field and to UMSI.
Distinguished Alumni Award: Lisa Carter
Lisa R. Carter, MILS ’94, is the Vice Provost for Libraries and University Librarian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In her role, she provides leadership for strategic planning, fundraising, coordinating campus library collections, services and personnel, advancing cross-campus collaborations and cultivating campus, regional, national and international partnerships.
Currently, Lisa serves on UW-Madison’s Student Digital Ecosystem Executive Committee, Online Undergraduate Project Executive Planning Board, and iSchool Advisory Council, and as the incoming Chair of the Association of Research Libraries Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, serving on ARL’s Program Strategy Committee.
Rising Alumni Award: Aalap Doshi
Aalap Doshi, MSI ’09, leads the design of the award-winning UMHealthResearch, a health search recruitment platform used by thousands of people across various institutions. He co-founded Findcare, a nonprofit that connects low-income communities to low-cost or free healthcare. He is passionate about building a pipeline of future designers and has mentored early career design professionals in that quest.
In 2018, he co-founded Letters to a Young Designer, a publication that aims to bring diverse design experiences from the field to young professionals starting their journeys. His work has been published by various scientific journals including the Journal for Clinical and Translational Science.
