Soo Ji Choi
Biography
Soo Ji S. Choi is a doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information, co- advised by Dr. Pedja Klasnja and Dr. Mark W. Newman. Her research lies at the intersection of behavioral medicine and human-computer interaction, examining how mobile health systems can support lasting behavior change, particularly physical activity among middle-aged and older adults. Her work has two main parts: translating theories and mechanisms of behavior change into intervention design components, and using human-centered design and qualitative methods to understand people's needs and how behavior fits into their daily lives. Across both, she designs and evaluates adaptive interventions that help people value and internalize health behaviors in ways that fit their circumstances and needs.
